Bali Villa vs Hotel: Which is Better for Families?
Bali is unique in Asia because it offers two distinct accommodation styles: traditional hotels/resorts and private villas. For families, the choice between a villa and a hotel can make or break your trip. This comparison is based on extensive research into both accommodation types.
The Quick Answer
For families with kids under 10: A private villa is usually better. You get more space, a private pool, kitchen facilities, and the ability to put kids to bed while adults enjoy the evening.
For families with older kids/teens: A resort hotel offers more activities, social opportunities, and convenience.

Recommendation
For our family trip with kids ages 4 and 7, we chose a villa in Canggu. Hereโs why:
- The private pool meant our kids could swim at 6 AM (yes, really)
- We could cook breakfast and save money
- The kids had their own bedroom
- We could put them to bed at 7 PM and have dinner on the terrace
The only downside was we had to drive everywhere. But with Grab (ride-hailing app), that wasnโt a problem.
